Cell Phones Rule In School

Students should not be allowed to have cellular devices in high schools. Since the invention of cell phones, many have used them but have abused the rights of having a cellular phone. Cell phones are a good thing to have when one is in trouble, but what is the use of having it in school when a student is learning "diddly-squat." Cell phones are used for emergencies; kids think of it as a hot trend, and parents feel more secure when their kids have one. However, what is the point when they are distracting the students from learning during classes. Cell phones cause interruptions to others trying to learn, and they may even use it to their advantages in an unlawful manner. I feel that having a cell phone in school is not a necessity for education such as a notebook or a pen.

It is unwise for students to have a cell phone in high school for many reasons. Cell phones are given to students primarily because it is a way to get in contact with someone in case of an emergency. But what good of an emergency is texting in class and playing games when the teacher is teaching. Texting is a quick, quiet, and easy way for communicating while in class, without disrupting the class like passing notes; however, it still distracts the students from paying attention. According to Scholastic news, a former teacher Jesse Scaccia states "I can tell you that cell phones don’t belong in the classroom. A student with a cell phone is an uninterested student, one with a short attention span who cares more about his social life than education." With technology developing every day, new programs coming out, and student being able to add applications to their phones, i.e., games or even access the Internet; encourages entertainment in classrooms rather than listening to a teacher educate students.

Parents allowed their kids to carry a cell phone because they feel closure that if their child is in danger they can call for help. What the parents doesn’t know it that by allowing their kids to have a cell phone they are attracting danger. Many students are jealous and feel’s the urge to rob or hurt another student for their phone. The fancy phones that the parents are giving their children can be the reason why their child becomes the victim of a savage attack or even lose their life.

Many students think that having a cell phone is cool, even though many of them do not need it. Having a cell phone in the minds of students is a new trend; they just want a cell phone because they want a cell phone not because they need one. They don't want to feel left out of the cyber world where every teenager seems to have one. What students don’t realize is that having a cell phone may make them look cool, but having one cause’s disruption towards their education and affects learning abilities. According to www.foxnews.com, "Bells aren’t the only things ringing in school these days. Cell phones are, too." When a student’s phone rings in class, it is like a domino affect. The cell phone rings and causes disruption, it then causes a distraction, which then causes the teacher too loose the student’s attentions. For students to be able to learn, they must be in a stable environment without any distractions. A simple ring and even a loud vibration can be heard across class.

I think one of the major reasons why students should not be allowed to use cell phones in school is because many students take advantage of them and use it as a device to cheat. Many people use their cell phones to cheat on their test’s and the teacher is unaware. A student can cheat off of another student even though they are sitting across the class from each other, by simply texting each other the answers to the questions. According to The University of Alabama Computers and Applied Technology Program, there was a situation with two students at Millport High School, "Both Laura and Jessica are in the 10th grade, next door neighbors, best friends and have all the same classes. They were caught by the teacher texting each other answers during a test while one hand was in the lap holding the phone and the other on the desk. They both received a zero." With the use of phones, we can access the Internet and people also use the Internet to cheat on their exams.

I feel that cell phones in school should one day be banned from students. It is the causation of many problems. There is no need for a student to have a cell phone in high school. If a student needs to make a call, they can go to the main office. Also, if parents are concerned with their child’s safety, they can call the school to make sure their kid is where they are suppose to be. Personally speaking I knew many kids who passed test by cheating with the usage of a cell phone and I don’t think it is fair to the other students who are not cheating. Cell phones in class are doing nothing good for the people of the future. Rather than causing distractions, disruptions, and students getting into more trouble; cell phones should just be banned from schools

  1. The video is about cells should be allowed in school or not. The video gets my attention because its talking about something i felt strongly for and i would like to know an argument behind all this. The video is great you fixed the problems from before.

The video was great with the news report in the intro and then you putting words in between the video as it went along.

I didn't see a problem i had no trouble watching it i found it funny and didn't get discouraged from it at all. But there is one problem with the pictures in the intro around 2 min in i think some letters weren't clear and some of the words went away too fast just need to fix that up and also instead of saying here we go again maybe you can say before the videos like students don't know how to use them during school and then show then video. Other then that it was a great video

  2. This video is all about school won’t let students being cell phones to school based on different kind of reasons. By using a lot of funny videos (breaking cell phones), it really hook me. The video is great, and the music can perfectly combine with the video. However, I think that the video has too many same events in it. Keep breaking the cell phones is not a good idea to solve this problem and show too much in this video. More discussion is a better way to show your idea. The text is a little bit too fast; you may slow down it to let us read more carefully. In the beginning of the video, using news to introduce out the topic is a good way to persuade everyone. This is the strongest point because it is using facts to bring out the problem. In my point of view, the video is a great one. It is because the video has chosen a right music and combine with lots of video.

  3. This video creatively discusses the argument of permitting cell-phone usage in schools.
The pictures placed throughout your video are really cute and relate appropriately to the topic. It was very smart to place the news report in the beginning of your video. It set the stage for the rest of the video to follow and made the topic more “serious”-since it was being discussed on news. I love the video clip of the college professor who smashes a students cell phone for going off in class. It was a great way to humorously deliver an important point. Great choice of music and I love how you were able to find a sing talking about cell phones for the pictures. The words all go at a good speed and were easily able to be read. I also really like how you inserted bar graphs, pictures, and circle graphs into your essay. It was a good idea to place the pictures in between the essay, so that your readers wont get bored reading it and it breaks up the texts a little, making your report more interesting.

2)Arguments:Distracting in class; Not a neccesity;Attracts danger;cheating device; child can go to office in case of an emergency
    3)Counterarguments:Emergency use;To look cool
4)a. The writer adresses every opposition and cplays it in his favor
b.The strongest point is that phones attract danger because since parents give phone sto protect their children , this argument shows that it may have the adverse effect.
    c. There is no weak point, every point given is substatial
d.The points are very organized and keeps the reader interested.
e.I do not have any suggestion all points given are sufficient
f.A counterargument could be that what if there is an emergency where the child is not anle to reach he office phone what can he do?
5)Cellphones are not a necessary tool to have in school because they distract students, are used for cheating and attract danger
6)1."Parents allowed their kids to carry a cell phone because they feel closure that if their child is in danger they can call for help." could be " Parents give their children cellphones in order for their child to have access to them in case of an emergency"
2."The fancy phones that the parents are giving their children can be the reason why their child becomes the victim of a savage attack or even lose their life." could be " The phones that parents are giving their child may be the reason as to why that child is victimized by anther."
    7) No mistakes found.
